I read one of those silly quizzes the other day. "Do you love the mountains or the beach?" I thought at the time, "How could I choose?".

Check it out. We don't have to choose.

On this day, we stopped to visit toora. Bendigo Bank, Shaun's bank, opened its first community bank there and Shaun wanted to show it to me. We opened an account there. (We had opened one in Lakes as well :-) ). We ate lunch there. I had fish, natch, and Shaun had a burger 'with the lot'. That means with, "fried egg, bacon, tomato and onion!" I would have taken a picture of it, but I never had the chance. Shaun swallowed it up too quickly for me to even think about taking a picture. :-)

Toora is another beach town, but with a little twist. Down a winding road, a mile or two outside of town and just before a river, a bridge and a quarry, stands 4 cows on a slanted paddock looking at us as we pose for pictures in front of a green cabin across the road, beyond the barbed wire and up on the other hill.

No big deal, is it?

See this modest green house in the distance behind Shaun? This is the former homestead of "Uncle Charlie", Shaun's great-uncle on his father's side. Uncle Charlie, who never married, led a quiet and simple life here on the outskirts of town without the benefit of electricity. Shaun used to come here as a boy on family outings to visit the aging uncle. Later on, he sold the property when he was unable to farm it any longer, and moved into downtown Toora.

We left there and went in search of Agnes Falls, Up a hill into the countryside. This was not a spectacular event. I expected more. THere has been such a drought that all the rivers I see end up being trickles. Disappointing. It was a noyce walk with my husband as always but the falls weren't falling.

We then went for a drive to Waratah bay. We had lots of fun there. Playing in the surf, trying to body surf, kissing shaunie in the surf :-) doing somersaults in the waves. Making a spectacle of ourselves way out beyond the second wave :-).

Do I love mountains more than waves? Nope. I love them about the same. Hiking with Shaun is about as much fun as swimming with him and I will love it even more when the children, all three of them, are with us.

Victoria is home to many, many beautiful towns and beaches.
