Trip To Alice Springs - September, 2001

About six months ago, we all started laying our money down for what promised to be the highlight of the year - two weeks in September travelling to the Red Center of Australia. It seems like forever ago. For the last month or two, we have been busy buying clothes and supplies and getting prepped by teachers. September 21st couldn't come soon enough.

Today we travelled through Port AUgusta and headed into desert country and the Coober Pedy Opal Mines...
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 23th
We drove through Kulgera and headed west toward Ayers Rock (Uluru) and The Olgas - two world famous scenic sites.

Kings Canyon was great. We hiked a lot and saw all the colored rock and the Garden of Eden.
WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 26th
We left Kings Canyon and went to Ross River Homestead. This was a little disappointing...

Today was a busy day of hiking. We hiked up to see John Flynn's Grave...

I really enjoyed the Alice Springs Desert Park, especially the bird show...

Grand Final Day! I'm new to footy so I was sort of Interested but not as into it as maybe some others. I was glad to see the team that my family Barracks for, The Brisbane Lions, win, but I was in the minority!
