According to the Victoria Parks web page, "French Island contains the most significant population of koalas in
Victoria. The koalas reproduce so successfully that they eat themselves out of house and home. Each year, over 200 are
transferred to reserves in other parts of Victoria."
The last time Shaun and I toured Australia, in 1997, we searched all over the NSW coastal Bush in search of a koala for me to
see. And, on this trip, earlier in the week we searched the prom - finding two very high up. Nothing compares to seeing
them up close in the trees though
One of the children on the trip wanted to see 6 koalas. We saw 7. :-) One guy was jumping from branch to branch. Most were
hanging on the trunk and checking us out. I got to get out of the bus at one point and took the really good close up one.
