In May, 2001, Ricky undertook a 10 day work study program, spending one week in a nursing home and one week at Safeway. Both companies were impressed with Ricky's abilities. Safeway offered him a job as soon as one came vacant. He has been working one or two days a week consistently since. Because he couldn't see the fruit prices, we got his eyes checked and alas he was prescribed with bifocals. I bought him a pair of bifocals and a separate pair of reading glasses. Shaun bought him the Safeway vest, shirt and tie so that Ricky would look like management material.

The funny thing is that Ricky is not old enough to work officially. They overlooked the age requirements for Ricky because he displayed maturity and dependability. Steven's grandmother is saying she can't wait until steven is old enough to work. Ricky's friend Stacey started work last week at another grocery store. So, Ricky has started a trend.
