On Wednesday, we took the Cruise up the lakes to Metung, a quiet small community about an hour away. The woman sitting with us was from the states. I never got her name and she didn't get ours. During the hour cruise we got to know the woman a little bit. She had just come off of a geologic tour (45 days) in Antartica. She regularly goes there for business. Shaun and I decided that she was about the smartest person we have met in a while by a long shot. She was here over night and was on her way to Sydney and then Uluru.

Metung was not spectacular. It was quiet and cute and obviously was infused with new money, but the tour was the joy - not the destination. Though the dinner was pleasant. Fish. Any dinner I had was fish! (Got tired of FISH :-))

There was nothing to see or do in Metung except look at pelicans and walk in front of rich condos. :-) So we did that.

The Captain told us about the Lakes Entrance and the political disputes surrounding it. He also pointed out all the rare birds indigenous to the area.
