It only makes sense that the pictures we have of Lakes Entrance are at night. I have been there twice and haven't yet seen the beach during the day. We've seen it at night a few times now. :-)

We walked to the library on Tuesday so that we could finally check in on the children and our websites. The hill was unbelievably big. At the top of the hill, on a piece of prime property, is the library and shire offices. The shire has an incredible view, via a large bowed window, of the whole town and ocean.

Besides going to the shops, and going to the library daily, we went to Buchan, took a cruise to Metung, did some souvenir shopping for the kids, and swam at Lake Tyres.

The "lakes" are salt Water and I can't tell them apart from oceans. Don't quite know why Lake Tyres is called Lake Tyres. Lakes Entrance has to do with one small entrance from the ocean creates this land locked lake which is ideal from fishing and boating.

Lake Tyres had a small beach that was devoted to young families and ducks. The larger, ocean side, beach was for the experienced swimmers. I get all the beaches mixed up, but I think that it was here that we were instrumental in 'saving' a young girl. I don't know if we saved her or not.

You know when you are in the water and you hear some thoughtless child yelling "Help Help save me"? And, you can't help but think "I wish that kid would shut up and stop scaring people like that". Well, that is just what happened. I was standing there in the perfectly clean, sandy bottomed, clear surf thinking "That kid is being so stupid." Shaun was laying on his board and I was standing near him. This girl, about 10 years old and pudgy, was screaming in the surf. She had been separated from her two male friends or siblings and was ticked off because the current was pulling her away. The current was a cross-cut angled current and even I was concerned about how it was pulling me.

Shaun used his board to paddle out to the girl in the sleekest form I've seen in a while. He could be a lifeguard for sure if he needed to be. I forgot to mention he wears a black wetsuit that accentuates his upper chest. :-) Very nice. So, anyway-- we got closer to the girl and talked to her and calmed her down. Asked if those were her friends, can she swim in, blah blah... her father was on the shore , standing and very concerned. The girl wanted nothing to do with us "I can make it" she repeated. I think she was a little embarrassed and we were what she needed to get in to safe water. Her dad hugged her and gave a wave of appreciation to Mr Baywatch and me. It's been a while since I have been of any help to anyone in the water.

All in all, it is a nice place to swim and vacation and is close to other attractions such as the caves at Buchan, the Wineries and various lakes cruises.
