Food is a major concern for the kids - especially Ricky, the growing boy. :-) The poor dear is so
afraid there is nothing good to eat in Australia. Recently, however, we found Aussie Pies at Sams and he loved them. I'm
certain that the pizza will be no good, though what I have seen looks pretty. All of the shops seem to have plenty to
offer a vegetarian. Homemade sandwiches with sprouts and beets are common enough. Veggie patties are everywhere. Leslie Anne
will be interested in the candy that is available. Ricky - the chips. One day, we went into a shop and I over heard Shaun
ordering a medium order of chips. Chips are the equal to steak fries here in the states. When the order arrived, it was a
gigantic foot long, foot wide, two inch high paper-wrapped package. I said "THAT is a medium order of fries?" He said
"Medium? It is a "Minimum" order of chips!" I said "Ooooh Ricky will love that". Australian version of our Ketchup is
usually tomato sauce. The difference is apparently there is no vinegar in their version. I have seen catsup on the shelves
though, so no worries. :-). There is skippy peanut butter and more fresh fruits and vegetables than you can imagine. The bread
can be bought from any number of fresh bakeries on the corner. The smells alone could doom any diet. Milk can be bought in
containers which do not need refrigeration and it tastes fine. Some ultra radiated form. |
